Elmo’s Garden
An Angel named Elmo plants Angel flower seeds
That bloom all year round and look just like weeds;
But their petals are magic, he’ll tell you as much,
For they bring Angel joy to whoever they touch.
Softer than snowflakes, lighter than feathers;
Adrift on the wind in all kinds of weather;
Floating through windows, drifting through trees,
On a cold winters night, on a warm summer breeze;
Or delivered by pigeons, bluebirds and jays –
They go where he sends them, flying for days.
Morning and evening, in the middle of night,
Wherever he sends them everything turns out right.
Then they fly back to Elmo’s to pick up some more –
Angel flower petals to leave at your door;
Or sent through a chimney to land on your bed,
Lying on your pillow or touching your head;
Or tickling your ears, your feet or your nose –
Angel flower petals with the scent of a rose:
Planted by Elmo to bring laughter and cheer
Every hour of the day, and all through the year.
