Justin’s Angel Help

An Angel called Justin is moving house again,
And his friends have come to lend a hand, a hippo and a hen;
A panda and an elephant, a lion and a shrew;
A mole, and now a polar bear has come to join the crew.
Everything’s put in boxes or packed in wooden crates:
Books and toys and silverware, pots and pans and plates;
Violins, flutes and trumpets, guitars to pluck and strum;
A tambourine, an Angel harp, a cello and a drum;
Postcards, letters, thank-you notes from places where he’s stayed;
An album filled with photographs of all the friends he’s made;
Posters, placemats, party hats, balloons and silver stars
For a farewell party that lasts for seven hours.
Now summer’s here – and Justin’s come to help a wren,
But in six or seven weeks he’ll be moving once again:
Flying to where he’s needed, helping where he can
Without any kind of payment, or any kind of plan;
Because Justin’s always happy, just doing what Angels do:
He goes where he is needed and his helping crew go too:
A lion and two friendly bears, a hippo and a hen;
A mole, a shrew, an elephant and now one more – a wren!
